Position:
#2033 Youth Worker
Nature of position:
Temporary Full Time: until return of incumbent
40 hours per week Tues-Sat rotating days and afternoons
Diploma in related human/social service field or equivalent. One-year prior job experience (paid or volunteer), working with people with developmental disabilities or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Previous experience working with people with dual diagnosis and challenging and aggressive behavior. Must display a proven ability to work with challenging and aggressive behavior calmly and effectively. Must display an understanding and ability to work with individuals with mental disability and mental illness. Must be able to provide life skill and behavior management training to clients. Facilitates physical, recreational, social and educational activities. Must have good written and verbal communication skills and demonstrated ability to teach skills. Must display enthusiasm and energy and be a contributing team member. Must be physically fit, willing and able to meet all physical demands of the job.
Rate of pay:
As per Collective Agreement - Grid Level 11

Requirements:
Valid Class IV Driver's License, current First Aid and CPR, TB test results, must have a current Criminal Record Check as per Association policy, consolidated screening through MCFD Centralized Services Hub, and a completed Physicians Approval of Health. Food Safe Certification and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention are also required. Must be willing to swim on a regular basis
