Position: Supported Child Development Consultant
Nature of position:
28 hours per week. Temporary until return of incumbent
Rate of pay: As per Collective Agreement – Paraprofessional Grid Level 14
Location: Supported Child Development Program - Campbell River
Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, social work, counselling, youth and child care or related field, or SCDP/IDP Diploma. Minimum 3 years work experience in inclusive child care and the community social services sector with a demonstrated working knowledge of family centred service, early intervention, child development, family support and community-based services. Current Criminal Record Checks, physician approval, TB test results, First Aid and CPR required as per Association policy.

Strong oral and written communication and organizational skills. Effective team work skills. Ability to work independently and to manage time and work load effectively. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Ability to maintain a positive, professional, non-judgemental attitude. Knowledge of community child care resources and other community support services. Computer literacy. Skill in administering a range of formal and informal developmental assessment tools. Knowledge and skills in adult training. Ability to reflect on and improve professional practice. Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
Union Status: General Unit
Own Vehicle Requirements: Must have access to a reliable vehicle and maintain a valid Class 5 Driver's License, with business insurance, plus $2,000,000 third party liability.
