VARIOUS UP TO 40HRS/WK
Working as a member of our casual pool in any one of the day programs, which include:
Passages Day Program -
This program provides supports and teaching in the areas of daily living, social, communication, pre-vocational, recreation, and leisure and provides opportunities to access their community.
Leisure and Recreation Programs -
This program offers leisure and recreation activities to adults with developmental disabilities who have moved from full time to part time employment or to retirement.
Semi Independent Living -
This program supports adults with developmental disabilities to live as independently as possible in their own home or apartment. The staff provide assistance in daily living skills to include banking, budgeting/bill paying, grocery shopping, household maintenance, social and leisure, and personal hygiene.
Supported Employment -
Through training in job search skills, interview skills, and job-specific skills, Supported Employment works with local employers to assist individuals eligible for our services in obtaining meaningful work within the community.

Customized Employment -
Customized employment is way of offering non-traditional solutions to obtain employment opportunities for people who have significant barriers to employment to benefit both the employee and employer. It includes customized job tailoring, job coaching and skills training free of charge.
HYPE - Helping Young Adults Procure Employment -
The HYPE Program focuses on preparing young adults after graduation to get ready for employment. The staff will help emphasize on personal development and safety, community inclusion awareness, resume building, job mentoring and shadowing, work experience and volunteering, as well as Food Safe and WHMIS training. This program will help provide life skills needed in exploring employment within the community.

Rate of pay: Starting at $21.63 as per Collective Agreement Grid Level 10 and reaching a maximum of $25.19.
Location: ALL DAY PROGRAMS: PASSAGES/HYPE/SUPPORTED EMPLOYEMENT/ RECREATION AND LEISURE BASED IN CAMPBELL RIVER
Valid Class IV Driver's License (UPON 90 DAYS OF HIRE), current First Aid and CPR, negative TB test results, current Criminal Record Check as per Association policy, and a completed Physicians Approval of Health. Food Safe Certification and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention also required.

Qualifications / Knowledge / Skills:
Human Services Worker Certification or certification in a relevant field preferred. Three to six month prior job experience (paid or volunteer), working with people with developmental disabilities is an asset. Preference given to those with previous experience working with people with a dual diagnosis and challenging behavior. Must display a proven ability to calmly and effectively work with individuals with complex behavioral and emotional needs. Must have good communication skills, both verbal and written, as well as basic computer knowledge. Program development and report writing skills are preferred and the ability to work with the individual and family in program development. Must display enthusiasm, energy and a willingness to be flexible in adapting to a varied schedule. Must be physically fit, willing and able to meet all physical demands of the job, including swimming. Must be comfortable and willing to work independently. Preferred applicants will have experience providing programming focused on the arts, or a willingness to learn.
