Position: Community Support Worker
Nature of position:
17.5 hours per week; permanent schedule to be determined; 3 hours 3 weekday evenings per week; approx. 6pm – 9:30pm. 4 hours during the day Saturday and 4 hours in the evening Sunday (approx. 7pm – 11pm)
Rate of pay: Grid Level 10
Location: Confidence in Community-Department 94 (formerly 1:1 contracts)
Current First Aid and CPR, negative TB test results, current Criminal Record Check as per Association policy, Physicians Approval of Health, Food Safe Certification, class 4 drivers’ license and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention also required.
Qualifications / Knowledge / Skills:
Human Services Worker Certification or certification in a relevant field preferred. Three to six month prior job experience (paid or volunteer), working with people with disabilities. Must display a proven ability to calmly and effectively work with individuals with complex support needs, to include personal care and catheter care. Must have knowledge of available community services and be willing to support the client in a variety of community settings and explore new activities. Must be willing and able to work cooperatively with the larger interdisciplinary support team. Must be physically able to push and/or assist with pushing a large heavy wheelchair in the community.
