COMMUNITY SUPPORT WORKER – Supporting Adults with Developmental Disabilities, Certificate Program
This intensive 13 week program is offered through Community Living College. The fall session, set to start September 11, 2017 will take place on a full time basis (20 hours per week). Please note: The Community Support Worker Program is modular in design; seats are available, (at no cost) within each module, for current CRADACL supervisors or employees wishing to audit/attend one specific module.
3-HOUR REFRESHER PROGRAM
Non-Violent Crisis Intervention is a safe, non-harmful behavior management system designed to aid human service professionals in the management of challenging, disruptive or assaultive people. The goal is to provide staff with the skills and techniques necessary to intervene in a manner that provides for the care, welfare, safety and security of all involved in the situation. This refresher program is intended for those that have completed the full program and need to re-certify

NEW EMPLOYEE ORIENTATION
*** 2-DAY SESSION - This is mandatory training for all new employees. The intent of this training is to review Association policies & procedures and on-call procedures. There will be discussion and practice on observation & documentation, values, ethics, confidentiality and positive, respectful workplace behavior. This program also fulfills the Worksafe BC requirements for WHMIS and bullying and harassment training.

AUTISM SPECTRUM DISORDER AND POSITIVE BEHAVIOR SUPPORTS
Through the lens of the Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Program, this workshop will enhance your ability to confidently and competently apply concepts and intervention strategies in your support to individuals on the autism spectrum. Participants in this program will:
• Develop a greater understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorder
• Understand why behaviors occur, how to prevent behaviors from occurring and how to appropriately intervene when behaviors do occur
• Explore appropriate adaptations and interventions that are unique to the strengths, needs and learning styles of individuals on the autism spectrum

This workshop satisfies the requirements for the Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Re-fresher Program
All CRADACL employees who administer medications must take medication administration training. This 3 hour training session is facilitated by Rita Bresson, Administrator at Ironwood Place, and adheres to medication administration standards as set by Island Health. If you have not taken medication administration training, then you must register for this session. Space is limited to 20 participants; when this session is full, names will be added to a wait list and a second session planned for the future. This is mandatory training for all new employees
